Rotterdam

Rotterdam is known for its important international port. The center of Rotterdam was almost completely destroyed during the bombing of the Second World War.
Nowadays, this dynamic city has spectacular innovative architecture, such as the Cube Houses, built in the shape of a tilted cube on a pole. and the Erasmus Bridge, a combined cable-stayed and bascule bridge and because of its shape nicknamed the Swan.
The Market Hall is built under a massive arch and decorated with 3d food photographs you’ll find here all kinds of Dutch (stroopwafels, cheese) and foreign delicacies.
Museums worth a visit are the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum and the Kunsthal.
You can shop around the Coolsingel and for drinks head to the terrace of Hotel New York (built at the beginning of the last century as the office of the Holland America line).
With a 'Splash Tour' you drive through the city in a bright amphibious bus and at the end the bus dives into the water and you'll sail further along the skyline of Rotterdam.
Delfshaven, is one of the few parts of the city that survived the war and with an old harbor (from 1389), canals and a famous grain mill, certainly worth exploring.
The Hague is 30 minutes by train from Rotterdam.
Delft
Only 15 Minutes by train from Rotterdam you’ll find Delft, with its old historic city center, known for its Delft Blue Pottery and birthplace of Johannes Vermeer.
The Mills of Kinderdijk
A beautiful sight are the nineteen old mills along the waterfront in Kinderdijk (UNESCO World Heritage). These mills were traditionally used to extract water from the polders. With a little wind, the blades swing almost to the ground.
It is 15 km by bike or 20 km by car from Rotterdam to Kinderdijk and the waterbus from Rotterdam will take you in 30 minutes to Kinderdijk, you can bring your bike on the boat.

Delft

Johannes Vermeer
Johannes Vermeer is best known for the paintings "Girl with a Pearl Earring” - original can be viewed in the Mauritshuis in The Hague - and “The Milkmaid” in the Rijksmuseum. Vermeer was born in 1632 in Delft in the house at the Voldersgracht 25.
