Mount Saint Peter (Sint Pieters Berg)
South of Maastricht you’ll find the Mount Saint Pieter, a nature area and limestone plateau stretching from the south of Maastricht to Belgium. Under the plateau lies an extensive networks of caves and tunnels that you can visit. On top of the well preserved Fort Sint Pieter (18th century ) you have beautiful views over the surrounding area. Shopping
You’ll find exclusive boutiques in the Stokstraat area and the area Wyck. The shoppingmalls Mosae Forum and Entre Deux are also worth a visit. On Saturdays there is a large flea market at the Stationsstraat. In the 13th century Gothic Dominican church there is a beautiful bookshop (near the Vrijthof).
Aachen (Germany)
Nice shopping city known for the Aachen Cathedral and the Christmas markets. Near the three-country point, the highest point in the Netherlands where the borders between the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany come together. 53 Minuten by Flixbus from Maastricht.
Liège (Belgium)
Bustling Belgian city on the Maas, for a Belgian beer, tasty chocolate or a Liège Waffle. 30 minutes by train from Maastricht.

Maastricht Area
From Maastricht you can take the train or bus to Valkenburg and Voeren in Belgium. There are bus services to the villages in the Geuldal.
It is also fun to cycle. The whole round is 53 km cycling. But of course you can also do smaller stretches. For example, it is less than 14 km from Voeren to Maastricht.
Valkenburg
One of the most popular tourist towns in Limburg and near the three-country point Vaals. Discover the caves, the ruins of the castle, test your luck in the casino or settle down on one of the many terraces.
10 minutes by train from Maastricht
Geuldal and Voerdal
West of Maastricht and on the border with Belgium you'll find a beautiful nature area, with rolling hills and forests and old farms. It is nice to walk or cycle here.
From Maastricht you can reach this area by bus within one hour. You can also cycle it (about 1.5 hours).

Thorn ( North - Limburg)
Also known as the white village, this historic village was established around 990 and was home to nuns who lived at the Abdijkerk Monastery. When at the end of the 18th century the French occupied the city, they imposed tax on the villagers based on the dimensions of the windows of their houses. So the poor villagers bricked their windows and to hide this they whitewashed their houses, hence the many white houses in Thorn. It's nice to walk through the authentic cobbled streets and many of the nun’s old houses can still be visited today. 50 km north of Maastricht.
